Takeo Community Centre
Paramount to the construction of our Community Centre in Takeo was sustainability. We achieve this through simple solutions including clean drinking water, sanitary conditions, bamboo shutters that allow wind-flow and prevent the need for air conditioning, as well as cultivation of fresh produce, all of which adds up to make a huge difference in the lives of the Takeo people!
Our on-site vegetable garden provides fresh local produce to members of the community each day and is the first step in our commitment to becoming a self-sustainable, environmentally conscious organisation.
Within the centre, we host preventative healthcare programs for our beneficiaries, prioritising reproductive health, reducing the contraction of infectious diseases and dental hygiene.
Throughout 2017-2020, we will we will implement our vaccination program, which will be the first of its kind in our community. We aim to immunise all beneficiaries to reduce the prevalence, and transmission, of infectious diseases that are common in Takeo Province, starting, but not limited to: tuberculosis, dengue fever, yellow fever, hepatitis A and B, tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis.
In addition to physical health, we place a high focus on mental health, combating the issues many of our beneficiaries suffer with daily, as a result of ongoing trauma, abuse and domestic violence.
